World No. 3 Andy Murray has reached the quarter-finals of the French Open for the first time in his career, after his straight sets victory over 13th seed Marin Silic in the 4th Round.
The 22-year-old has had a relatively easy run so far, dropping only a single set on the way to this meeting with 12th seed Fernando Gonzalez.
Andy Murray's previous best performance at the French Open was reaching the 3rd round in last year's tournament, and so the Scot will be looking to set even an even greater personal record in his campaign this season, against a player who has already experienced the quarter-finals at Roland Garros twice before.

Twelfth seed and World No. 12 Fernando Gonzalez has equalled his personal best performance at Roland Garros, reaching the quarter-finals for a second consecutive year, in addition to an appearance in the last eight back in 2003.
The 28-year-old Chilean has also experienced a relatively easy run so far, having yet to drop a single set in this year's tournament and posting a convincing 6-2 6-4 6-2 victory over his fourth round opponent, Victor Hanescu.

The head-to-head tally between these two players currently stands at only 1-1 with their last meeting taking place back in the 2006 US Open, where Andy Murray was victorious in a five-set third round encounter.
As this is their first meeting on the clay surface — as well as their first meeting in almost three years — it is difficult to predict how the two will fare against each other.
Fernando Gonzalez has had some impressive results on clay this season, reaching the semi-finals of his last two clay tournaments leading into Roland Garros (Rome and Barcelona).
Andy Murray, on the other hand, reached only the quarter-finals of his most recent ATP clay tournament (Madrid), and crashed out in the second round of his prior one (Rome).
However, the new World No. 3 has overall been in stellar form lately, continuing his ascension up the World ATP Rankings. And so in spite of Fernando Gonzalez's superiority on the clay surface, Andy Murray goes into this match as favourite to progress to his first ever French Open semi-final, in what looks set to be a close and tough encounter.
