UEFA Champions League Football
Kick-Off: 19:45

Real Madrid welcome Marseille to the Bernabeu knowing that they are in top form in all football competitions.
Los Blancos are yet to face any worthy competition in the La Liga and sit top of the table, level on points with Barcelona after five games played.
Saturday’s match against Tenerife was more of a fight than Manuel Pellegrini would have liked, though in the end, woeful finishing by the visitors and a second half brace by Karim Benzema was enough to keep Real Madrid perfect in the football season so far. Kaká added a third to complete the 3-0 victory.
There were stretches in the match that were quite worrying for Real fans, as Daniel Kome and Juan Francisco Martinez had their fair share of chances for Tenerife.
In their opening match in the Champions League, Real Madrid won easily over FC Zurich in Switzerland. The Spaniards raced out to a 3-0 lead, but needed to regroup and finish strongly after Zurich pulled it back to 3-2. In the end, the 5-2 scoreline was justice enough for Pellegrini’s men, as they were by far the better side.

Marseille will feel disappointed after kicking off their Champions League campaign with a loss at home against AC Milan.
The French Ligue 1 runners-up from the 2008/09 season dictated much of play, but found themselves behind on two occasions against Milan. The second of which proved too high a mountain to overcome.
Olympique de Marseille currently sit third in Ligue 1 after seven games and have played fairly well. Mamadou Niang has already netted five goals in the season and the addition of Lucho Gonzalez in midfield gives Marseille fans real reason to believe that their team can accomplish great things.
The two sides met twice in 2003 in the Champions League, and it was a different set of Galacticos that saw Madrid triumph 4-2 at home in the first Real Madrid vs Marseille meeting, with goals from Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo, and Luis Figo. The reverse fixture also ended in a Madrid win, this time with a 2-1 scoreline.
Olympique de Marseille will need points soon to avoid falling too far off the pace in group F. Sadly, for Marseille fans, life is not likely to get easier against Real Madrid and their new generation of superstars.
