AC Milan vs Bologna

AC Milan

AC Milan will hope to carry a head of steam into their weekend clash with Bologna after a positive result against Marseille in the Champions League.

Milan, who have otherwise been struggling mightily, travelled to France to take on an in-form Marseille side, and it was a familiar face who sealed three points for the Italians.

Filippo Inzaghi made his first start of the season for Leonardo and showed the Brazilian why he deserves first team football. The 36-year-old striker, who was born in an offside position, scored both goals for AC Milan to give them their first victory since opening day.

The win will relieve some pressure off Leonardo for the run of disappointing results, but his side will be asked to follow it up and beat Bologna as they travel to the San Siro on Sunday.

Clarence Seedorf was selected ahead of Ronaldinho, who was dropped to the bench after a run of poor performances. Ronaldinho's status ahead of Sunday's match is unknown, but if he continues to misplace passes and show a lazy attitude, his time on the bench will most likely be increased.

AC Milan v Bologna

Bologna

Bologna travel to AC Milan with two draws and a loss to their credit.

The season started promising for Giuseppi Papadopulo's men as they played well in a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina. Since then, however, the team has found themselves on a downward curve as they drew 0-0 with Bari and, most recently, lost at home to Chievo 2-0.

Marco Di Vaio returned to action against Chievo and will certainly be a boost for Bologna after missing the first two games of the season. Di Vaio finished the 2008/09 season with an impressive 24 goals following his transfer from Genoa. He will need to continue finding the net if Bologna wish to avoid a relegation battle.

Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, a summer signing from Fiorentina, has shown flashes of what he is capable of during his first few matches at the club. The Argentine-Italian is, so far, the only Bologna player to score a goal this season.

Prediction

The teams split the season series last season with one win a piece. Both wins came away from home as Bologna shocked Milan to spoil their home opener at the San Siro. Milan returned the favour later in the season to win 4-1 at the Stadio Renato Dall’ Ara.

AC Milan will need to do more to prove that their run of bad performances is a thing of the past. This game will likely depend on a couple of veterans: Filippo Inzaghi and Marco Di Vaio.

AC Milan vs Bologna Prediction: Milan 3 (with Inzaghi scoring) - Bologna 1
