Aston Villa beat Tottenham 2-1 earlier this season at White Hart Lane, and last season's Aston Villa vs Tottenham fixture saw Aston Villa beat the Spurs 2-1 again.
After an incredible run that saw them go thirteen league matches without a single loss and eye up 2nd place in the league, Aston Villa have now hit a bump in their form that has seen them lose to Manchester City and draw with Stoke in their last two matches. If Villa want to grab the final Champions League spot at the end of this season, they will have to be extremely careful, with 5th placed Arsenal only trailing them by three points.
Tottenham are starting to find their form once again, with some key results that have seen them go five points clear of the relegation zone after being bottom of the table at one point in the season. Prodigal son Robbie Keane has contributed to this, with two goals in his last two matches, and Aaron Lennon has been in fine form with three goals in the Spurs' last three matches.
As such, Aston Villa will have to be very careful not to concede more crucial league points to a team that, until recently, they would have been relatively comfortable favourites against.
Aston Villa will still go into this match as favourites, with the home ground advantage in their favour. However, on current form, Villa have a very dangerous chance of drawing with, or even losing to, yet another team that they should have likely beaten on paper.
